First, allow me to preface this by saying that I know that our house sold a few weeks ago, but since I just started blogging, I’ve got to catch up…OK?
So, we wanted to put out house up for sale in plenty of time to sell before we move. We were told that, within the current market, houses were selling in about 3 to 4 months. Our house sold in 4 days! Now, I know that we have a nice house (a turn-of-the-century Craftsman), and it’s in a decent neighborhood, and we’ve done a lot of work on it (including adding on 360 sq. ft. and completely remodeling the kitchen)…but seriously, 4 days?! We put the house on the market on a Friday, and Tuesday night we had 4 offers to choose from…3 of which were over our asking price. We accepted the highest offer with the longest closing time (60 days).
Actually, even though we have to move out of our house sooner than expected, we’re relieved! Trying to live in a house actively on the market is a pain in the patootie. Strangers coming and going, looking through our stuff, always keeping the house tidy…bleh. Not to mention it’s one huge thing we don’t have to worry about now (we certainly didn’t want to have to try to sell our house while living 5000 miles away in London).

Yes, I’m in contact with a “letting agent” in London. We’re looking around north London and…well, let’s just say the prices aren’t pretty!
